Albavet’s acupuncture clinic operates from our branch in Dunfermline and is one of only a very few such facilities available in Scotland. We decided to offer this referral service as traditional acupuncture therapies are increasingly integrating with mainstream veterinary treatment.
We can recommend acupuncture to treat a wide variety of conditions but we have found it especially effective in conditions associated with sore joints and arthritis. It can also help to reduce the size of some skin warts and promote healing of lick granulomas.

In 2006 she was awarded the British Medical Acupuncture Society Diploma and in 2012 a post-graduate certificate from the University of Hertfordshire both in Western medical acupuncture.
Conditions which may benefit from acupuncture include
- Generalised stiffness.
- Osteoarthritis – of many joints especially hips, stifles and elbows.
- Spinal spondylosis.
- Cruciate disease.
- Post-operative wound healing.
- Poor liver function.
- Some skin complaints.
Where possible it’s important that a diagnosis has been made pre-referral. When you have a diagnosis you can make an appointment for initial assessment and first treatment with Jane. Alternatively you are welcome to call Jane to discuss options. We usually plan four weekly sessions and then follow up with monthly top-ups if required.
Most insurance companies now include acupuncture but it is advisable to check.
