Ciara, a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Albavet Dunfermline, successfully completed a course entitled “Anaesthetic Monitoring for Veterinary Nurses” with a pass mark of 100%! Registered nurses, like veterinary surgeons, are required to complete a set number of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses as part of their professional registration. This course covered pre-anaesthetic procedures, anaesthetic drugs, monitoring anaesthesia, including the equipment that we use such as blood pressure monitors and capnography and also the recovery period. Ciara will put her extended knowledge to good use whilst nursing her patients coming in for operations at Albavet.
Taylor, who will be embarking on her veterinary nurse training later on in the year, has successfully completed her Diabetes Advisor Course. This course is designed to allow staff members to gain a better understanding of the condition diabetes mellitus, how it will affect a pet and the different methods of treatment that are available. With better knowledge and understanding of this disease Taylor will be well equipped to assist clients of Albavet.
