We are a small animal practice consisting of five practices across Glasgow and Fife. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we have access 24-hour emergency care and for your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at the practices.
Leeann qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004 while working in a busy small animal practice. She was appointed head nurse and gained her clinical coach qualification a few years later. Leeann joined Albavet in 2006, and gained her advanced certificate with distinction in companion animal behaviour in 2011. Over the next few years she hopes to study for a certificate in anaesthesia and continue to work as Albavet’s resident behaviour and training adviser which is where her passion lies.
At home Leeann has a Tortoiseshell cat called Tango who is always up to mischief and keeps her on her toes.
Nicole Tate RVN
Head Nurse at Dunfermline
Nicole started training as a student veterinary nurse with Telford college in 2009 and had a placement with Albavet throughout her three years of study. She qualified in 2012 where she was taken on as a full time registered veterinary nurse at our Dunfermline practice. Nicole has recently become head veterinary nurse and very much enjoys her new role leading Dunfermline’s excellent nursing staff! Nicole has a three year old daughter named Skye and a six year old pug called Bertie. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys keeping fit by running and training at the gym.
Sam Wylie RVN
Head Nurse at Kirkcaldy
Sam first started working at Albavet in 2004 as a weekend receptionist, before beginning her nurse training in 2005 and qualifying in 2009. Since then, Sam has achieved a certificate in veterinary nursing of exotic species and more recently has completed a certificate in emergency and critical care.
Janette Young RVN
Senior Nurse at Dennistoun
Janette joined Albavet in 2004 to pursue her dream as a veterinary nurse after working many years as a podiatrist. She qualified in October 2008 and became a registered veterinary nurse. Janette enjoys all aspects of her job, especially nurse clinics and offering support and advice on preventative and life stage healthcare. Her passion is cats, and she has a special interest in their wellbeing having two senior ones at home called George and Tia. Janette enjoys the bond that she has with the patients and clients. Being able to offer care and comfort in both good and difficult times is satisfying and the reason she joined the profession.
Cheryl Ellis RVN
Cheryl qualified in 2008 and has been a nurse at Albavet since March 2010. Her main interest is cats and she has recently completed a certificate in feline friendly nursing. In her spare time, Cheryl is kept busy walking her dog Ricksen and looking after a very naughty cat called Masie. Cheryl also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Stephanie Ferguson RVN
Stephanie is a registered veterinary nurse and has been with Albavet Dunfermline since she was at school - starting with work placements, then worked in the cattery at weekends, and as a student nurse. She qualified as veterinary nurse in 2011 and began working here full time. Her main interests are oncology and dental nursing. At home she has two Labradors and a cat of her own, which she spoils and loves a lot. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with friends and family and walking her beloved Labradors.
Claire Henderson RVN
Claire started working at Albavet in 2002 as a cattery assistant, before undertaking her nurse training and becoming a qualified veterinary nurse in 2008. When at work she particularly enjoys the nursing of hospitalised patient’s and has recently completed a certificate in medical nursing. She has also recently completed a course on pet bereavement. Claire works part time at our Kirkcaldy hospital so she can juggle family life with two young children.
Dawn Hynd RVN
Dawn started working at our Kirkcaldy hospital in 2000, where she currently works part time due to having a young family. Dawn enjoys nurse consultations, especially weight loss clinics! She has recently achieved a certificate in weight loss and a consulting certificate.
Martin McAndrew RVN
Martin is one of our nurses, starting work at our Dunfermline branch in September 2016 after graduating from Edinburgh Napier University in July 2016 with an honours degree. He now works at our Kirkcaldy hospital and has a keen interest in medical nursing, in which he is further pursuing by studying the advanced medicine course at the MiNurse Academy. In his spare time, Martin enjoys hobbies such as hillwalking and listening to music as well as spending time with family and friends. Although not owning any pets, Martin enjoys looking after all patients under the care of the practice, and making sure that they receive a high standard of care.
Katie Mclaughlin RVN
Katie qualified from Edinburgh’s Telford College in 2013. She enjoys all aspects of her busy nursing role but her true passion is nutrition - she particularly enjoys tailoring diets for pets with food intolerances and allergies. Katie hopes to get a nutrition certificate in the near future. She has three pets, Skip the Jack Russell Terrier and Freckles and Denver the guinea pigs.
Rachael Sikora RVN
Rachael qualified in July 2016 from Edinburgh Napier University. Since then she has worked in small animal practices in Edinburgh and Fife. She is owned by Romanian rescue dog called Rosa and two ferrets, Linus and Lily.
Jodie Thomson RVN
Jodie qualified from Napier University in 2014, and began her career here in April 2016. Jodie's favourite part of the job is nursing inpatients, as she loves the satisfaction of them going home feeling better. At home she has a black Labrador called Kudo, who's eight years old and her first ever dog. Jodie says he’s spoilt rotten, and loves swimming.
Kimberley Tippen RVN
Kimberley graduated from The College of Animal Welfare, Edinburgh in 2016 after studying a level three diploma in veterinary nursing. She then joined the Albavet team in the November. Her favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is seeing patients doing well after illness or surgery knowing our care has made a difference to them and their owners. She also enjoys seeing all the cute puppies and kittens that come to Albavet! Kimberley has a variety of pet at home, including three family dogs, Cara, Alfie and Ruby, two guinea pigs, Hazel and Willow and a horse called Stella, all of which she enjoys spending time with when not at work.
Lisa To RVN
Lisa qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2012 after completing her diploma in veterinary nursing through Telford College. She began working in our Kirkcaldy hospital in 2015 and enjoys the variety of jobs nursing brings, especially taking care of inpatients and the satisfaction of nursing them back to health.
Student Veterinary Nurse at Dennistoun
Paula has been part of the Albavet team since 2013. Initially she was part of the reception team, however after many years of determination she is following her career aspirations in becoming a veterinary nurse. She is currently studying for her level three diploma in veterinary nursing at SRUC where she has developed a keen interest in the field of physiotherapy. In her spare time Gemma enjoys spending time with her handsome German Shepherd, Prince. She also has a passion for fitness and is part of the I-Kick martial arts team, where she participates in Taekwondo!

Eliese started working at Albavet in January 2017 as a veterinary care assistant after attending the practice on work experience in March 2016. Eliese has recently started her veterinary nurse training and is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.
