

Tess Walker MA VetMB MRCVS
Head Veterinary Surgeon
Tess graduated from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 2012. She started her veterinary career in mixed practice, but quickly discovered that her passion lay with small animals. She joined our practice in 2019. Tess enjoys all aspects of veterinary daily life but has a particular interest in surgery and exotics. Tess has three gorgeous pets; a cat, Hamish, and two rescue Budgies, Brucie and Bertie. In her spare time she likes to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful Scottish countryside.


Fiona Douglas BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Fiona qualified from Edinburgh University in 2017. After two years in mixed practice on the west coast of Scotland she joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in October 2019. She has an interest in anaesthesia and surgery but enjoys all parts of first opinion practice. Outside work she can most likely be found in the gym, or watching live bands across venues in Glasgow.


Shona Millar BVM&S MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Shona qualified from Edinburgh University in 2013. Since then she has had a very varied career; after a year working as a farm animal vet she moved to Malawi to work as a wildlife vet treating everything from monkeys to lions. Since returning home in 2016 she worked as a mixed practice vet for several years before deciding to move to purely small animal work. She really enjoys all aspects of general practice and the variety of work it provides. In her spare time, Shona can be found walking her dogs in the beautiful local countryside.


Karen Ramsay RVN
Practice Director
Karen qualified as a nurse in 1994. After working as a practice manager and subsequently clinical director of another practice Karen moved to Albavet Veterinary Surgeons. She enjoys all aspects of practice management and still likes to keep up with her nursing skills. In her free time she enjoys music and spending time with her two children.


Leeann Jamieson RVN DiP CABT
Leeann qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004 while working in a busy small animal practice. She was appointed head nurse and gained her clinical coach qualification a few years later. Leeann joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in 2006, and gained her advanced certificate with distinction in Companion Animal Behaviour in 2011. She enjoys all aspects of Nursing and is especially interested in Surgery, Behaviour and Anaesthesia.
At home Leeann has a Tortoiseshell cat called Tango who is always up to mischief and keeps her on her toes.

Janette Young RVN
Senior Nurse
Janette joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in 2004 to pursue her dream job as a veterinary nurse, after many years working as a podiatrist. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2008. Janette enjoys her job immensely and has a strong passion for nurse clinics, offering advice on all aspects of health care. She's always up for chat.
Her love for cats is no secret and she proudly steered the practice into cat accreditation and feline friendly handling. Janette is the feline advisor in practice and it’s her role to make sure Albavet Veterinary Surgeons is offering the best possible care for its feline friends.
She also set up a bereavement room in practice to provide a quiet room for clients to say goodbye to their pet and to offer end of life care should they wish to chat.
Family is Janette's priority outside of work, and they love the outdoors and going to the gym. Janette is owned by a very demanding Sphynx called Hondo, who is regularly seen out in the local area in his cat pram.

Claire Boyle
Administrator
Claire joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in 2018 as a part time Practice Administrator, dealing with the paperwork side of the business. If you have any queries regarding your insurances, then Claire's the one to speak to.
Outside Albavet Veterinary Surgeons – Claire's passion is her business – Paws Paradise – a dog walking and pet care service based in East Dunbartonshire.
At home, her best friend is her Cocker Spaniel called Amber, who she says is the best and most spoiled pup in the world.

Stephen McKeown
Head Receptionist
Stephen joined the Albavet Veterinary Surgeons team as a receptionist in 2019 and enjoys getting to know the animals who visit the practice. In their spare time, Stephen and his wife can be found under the despotic rule of their Ragdoll kitten Amelie.


Victoria Baird
Receptionist
Victoria is one of the receptionists at Albavet Veterinary Surgeons who joined the team in June 2019. She most enjoys getting to know the clients and their animals. She enjoys spending her spare time with her own animal and her child.
