Karen qualified as a nurse in 1994. After working as a practice manager and subsequently clinical director of another practice Karen moved to Albavet Veterinary Surgeons. She enjoys all aspects of practice management and still likes to keep up with her nursing skills.
In her free time she enjoys music and spending time with her two children.

Jen BVMS MRCVS
Head Veterinary Surgeon
Jen qualified in 2008 from Glasgow University, and has been in small animal practice ever since. She has had a wide range of experience in her career, including charity, out of hours and general practice. This has put her in good stead to cope with whatever comes through the door of the practice! She has a particular interest in surgery and imaging, and is always interested in learning new things.
Outside of work Jen keeps busy with family. When she's not being mum’s taxi, she spends her time reading, running or walking with Lizzie and Norah her lovely dogs.

Daria McLennan BVMS MRCVS
Senior Veterinary Surgeon
Daria qualified at Glasgow Vet School in 1998 and has worked for firstvets since 2011.
She has two gorgeous Border Collies named Roma and Briar. In her free time Daria runs, taking the dogs with her of course and she also cycles.

Alice Allan BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Alice grew up in the sunny east coast of Scotland. Growing up she was always surrounded by animals and was determined to become a vet. She graduated from University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and worked in the east coast before moving back to Glasgow. She particularly enjoys dermatology and dentistry and hopes to become certified in one or both of these areas.
Outside of work Alice enjoys swimming, watching rugby and weekend trips away. She has a cheeky Cocker Spaniel called Ruby who is always getting into mischief.

Maria Bonnemaison BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Maria qualified in 2018 from the University of Cordoba, Spain. She decided to take an adventure solo trip through Scotland and fell in love with the beauty of the countryside and the kindness of its people. A couple of months later, she packed her stuff and moved over and has loved it ever since. She started working for the team at 3MileVets in the summer of 2021.
She loves challenging internal medicine cases and enjoys soft tissue surgery. She has a soft spot for elderly cats and dogs and loves helping improve their quality of live to ensure their last years are free of pain and discomfort and they can make the most of them.
She shares her house with two rescue cats, River - a ginger DSH and Raven - a very lazy silver tabby Maine coon cross. In her free time, Maria loves spending time with her family at home, reading, drawing and playing drums.

Fiona Douglas BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Fiona qualified from Edinburgh University in 2017. After two years in mixed practice on the west coast of Scotland she joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in October 2019. She has an interest in anaesthesia and surgery but enjoys all parts of first opinion practice.
Outside work she can most likely be found in the gym, or watching live bands across venues in Glasgow.

Emma Du Cane BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Emma graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2010 and joined firstvets in June 2016. She really enjoys being part of the team here, especially when she gets to meet all the clients and their lovely pets. Emma enjoys all aspects of her job and has a particular interest in medicine.
Emma lives in the West End with her husband, their toddler son and young Labrador. Outside of work she likes to run, swim and try to keep fit.

Rebecca Mansley BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Rebecca was born and bred in Glasgow and loves the city so much she stayed at home during her studies, graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2020. She is a familiar face to the practice after spending lots of time here as a student before joining the team as a qualified vet! Her main interests are medicine, dermatology and ultrasonography. She also enjoys performing surgery.
Outside of work Rebecca is an avid reader, she loves going to the cinema, taking walks and spending time with her friends and family.

Madeleine Thomson BVMS MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Madeleine graduated from the University of Surrey in 2021 and is taking part in the CVS New Graduate program. She enjoys many aspects of small animal practice and has a specific interest in soft-tissue surgery.
Outside of work she enjoys baking, reading and playing video games. Madeleine has a weakness for springer spaniels that stems from one of her own, Ollie.

Nick Friend Head RVN
Head Veterinary Nurse
Nick started working in veterinary industry in 2009 and has since gained experience in mixed practice, on call, emergency, and the SSPCA. It has always been a passion for Nick to work with animals, to help them to the best of his ability, and being their voice when they need it.
Nick joined Albavet as head nurse in 2021. He is interested in many areas including anaesthesia, consulting and nutrition.
When he is not at work Nick enjoys reading, gaming, eating and the gym.

Janette Young Senior RVN
Senior Veterinary Nurse
Janette joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in 2004 to pursue her dream job as a veterinary nurse, after many years working as a podiatrist. She qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2008. Janette enjoys her job immensely and has a strong passion for nurse clinics, offering advice on all aspects of health care. She's always up for chat.
Her love for cats is no secret and she proudly steered the practice into cat accreditation and feline friendly handling. Janette is the feline advisor in practice and it’s her role to make sure Albavet Veterinary Surgeons is offering the best possible care for its feline friends.
She also set up a bereavement room in practice to provide a quiet room for clients to say goodbye to their pet and to offer end of life care should they wish to chat.
Family is Janette's priority outside of work, and they love the outdoors and going to the gym. Janette is owned by a very demanding Sphynx called Hondo, who is regularly seen out in the local area in his cat pram.

Leeann Jamieson RVN DiP CABT
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Leeann qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004 while working in a busy small animal practice. She was appointed head nurse and gained her clinical coach qualification a few years later.
Leeann joined Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in 2006, and gained her advanced certificate with distinction in Companion Animal Behaviour in 2011. She enjoys all aspects of Nursing and is especially interested in Surgery, Behaviour and Anaesthesia.
At home Leeann has a Tortoiseshell cat called Tango who is always up to mischief and keeps her on her toes.

Chloe Louise
Patient Care Assistant
Chloe joined the reception team in August 2019 as she has always loved animals and wanted to change her career to become an RVN. After a lot of hard work and knowledge building she was given the opportunity to become a patient care assistant and she is loving her new role. Although she is enthusiastic about all aspects of her new position, her favourite part has to be giving cuddles to the inpatients.
Chloe loves all animals but she is particularly keen on everything Feline! She has three cats of her own Lily, Sol and Tonks.

Lauryn Sheehan
Head Receptionist
Lauryn started as a receptionist in 2021 after moving over from Ireland once she finished University. She enjoys getting to know all the pets and even sneaking in a cuddle here and there.
In her spare time she likes to spend it with her friends and enjoys playing and listening to music. She misses her 3 dogs back home but her mum makes sure to send lots of pictures of her with the boys.

Victoria Baird
Receptionist
Victoria is one of the receptionists at Albavet Veterinary Surgeons who joined the team in June 2019. She most enjoys getting to know the clients and their animals. She enjoys spending her spare time with her own animal and her child.


Charlene Robertson

Charlene started as a receptionist in Oct 2021, she had previously spent 16 years working in management for McDonald’s but decided it was time to take on a new challenge.
When she is not in work, Charlene enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and looking after her son, she loves travelling and listening to music.
